The Arts Section 05/13/18

May 13th, 2018

On this edition of The Arts Section, host Gary Zidek visits a new exhibit of Chinese artist and activist Ai Weiwei's work called TRACE.  The exhibition features over a hundred portraits of activists from around the world, all made of Legos. Gary talks to TRACE in Chicago producer Sandhya Jain Patel about the Ai's approach to creation and the logistics of the new exhibit.  In honor of Mother's Day, Gary lists his top 5 movies to watch with your mom.  A little later, the Dueling Critics, Kelly Kleiman and Jonathan Abarbanel, stop by to review Chicago Shakespeare Theatre's new adaptation of MACBETH.  And then, Gary talks to trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard. The 5-time Grammy winner is currently touring behind his latest album LIVE, which he says was inspired by a series of gun violence incidents.  All that, plus the weekly Arts Section calendar are in this week's edition of The Arts Section.
