Lots of Jazz on this edition of The Arts Section. Host Gary Zidek chatted with renowned pianist Danilo Perez about his relationship with Dizzy Gillespie and a new performance program he’s put together to celebrate the centennials of four jazz legends who were all born in 1917. We’ll also hear about a Jazz Institute of Chicago performance series (JazzCity) that just kicked off. The Dueling Critics review a new play titled THE COLUMNIST. And Gary revisits a conversation he had with vibraphonist Gary Burton last year. Burton is about to perform in Chicago for the final time.
