The Arts Section 12/04/16

December 4th, 2016
Key players involved in Joffrey Ballet's new production of The Nutcracker

On this edition of The Arts Section, host Gary Zidek previews the Joffrey Ballet's re-imagined version of The Nutcracker.  Joffrey artistic director Ashley Wheater and award-winning choreographer Christopher Wheeldon weigh in on the upcoming world premiere. Gary also caught up with the author of a new biography about iconic singer-songwriter Paul Simon.  A little later in the show, the Dueling Critics will review two new productions that share some thematic and structural qualities.  And WDCB's Brian O'Keefe has a holiday story about a local man who is the official historian for Rankin-Bass Productions, the company that did the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman specials. All that, plus Gary's weekly Arts Section calendar.

The Joffrey Ballet is set unveil a new, re-imagined version of The Nutcracker that's set in the weeks leading up to Chicago's 1893 World's Fair. The new production was choreographed by world renowned choreographer Christopher Wheeldon.
