Hyde Park Jazz Fest Announces 2023 Line-Up!
This year’s Hyde Park Jazz festival will be highlighted by a solo set from piano master Kenny Barron, the hard bop quintet led drummer Louis Hayes and a 100th birthday tribute to Chicago jazz legend Von Freeman from Freeman’s son Chico Freeman. The 17th Annual Festival will once again be held in architecturally unique venues across the Hyde Park, Kenwood, and Washington Park neighborhoods. The Festival lineup features 36+ FREE performances on September 23rd-24th, 2023. The program includes national and international artists alongside some of Chicago’s brightest lights. Venues include Smart Museum, International House, Rockefeller Chapel, Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts, Hyde Park Bank, Hyde Park Union Church, The DuSable Museum, Augustana Church, Institute for the Study of Ancient Cultures, and the Midway Plaisance.
Special guest and visiting musician projects include Courtney Bryan, Silvia Bolognesi Quartet, Melanie Charles with special guest Marquis Hill, Adegoke Steve Colson, Chico Freeman, Louis Hayes Quintet, Pedrito Martinez Group, Nicole Mitchell, Endea Owens and the Cookout, Ches Smith and We All Break, Luke Stewart.
