Illinois Schools Can Welcome Students Back For Select In-Person Summer Classes
June 5th, 2020
Illinois schools are now able to welcome students back for certain types of in-person learning during the summer. The State Board of Education issued guidance to districts to offer several programs. Driver’s ed, early childhood classes and special education meetings are among the services schools can now offer so long as they follow the state’s public health guidelines on social distancing and mask wearing. Board spokeswoman Jackie Matthews says individual districts should be preparing to conduct remote learning in the fall. Once Illinois moves to the next phase of reopening, the Board is expected to issue more guidance on in-person learning.
