Michael Dohan

Louis Michael Dohan, 71, of St. Charles, Illinois, passed away on July 22, 2026. He was born on November 15, 1954, in Aurora, Illinois, to Louis and Jean (nee Banks) Dohan. On October 6, 1984, he married Christine (nee Reuland), at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Aurora.

Mike grew up in Aurora and graduated from Marmion Academy (Class of 1972). He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Northwestern University and began practicing dentistry in Chicago, where he also served as a clinical instructor for the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry. 

Mike met Christine while living in Chicago, and together they built a life centered on family, faith, and service. The couple moved to St. Charles, where they began building their family and business. They purchased an existing dental practice and transformed it into L. Michael Dohan Dentistry, which they proudly owned and operated for more than 25 years. Mike renovated and expanded the office building, creating the welcoming practice he and Christine envisioned. He took pride in caring for his patients and building lasting relationships within the community.

Mike’s commitment to serving others extended far beyond his dental practice. He was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Patrick Catholic Church and an active member of the Baker Community Board. He was also a dedicated member of the Kiwanis Club and enjoyed community fundraisers, especially the annual peanut and rose sales. He was particularly proud of the Kiwanis’ contribution of a wheelchair swing to the all-inclusive playground at Pottawattamie Park in 2021.

Mike had a diverse range of interests and talents. He loved baseball, particularly the White Sox, and was a whiz at trivia. He had a passion for music, especially jazz. As a lifelong drummer, enjoyed jamming out at open mic nights at the Mill Race Inn, Villa Verona, and the Viking. In retirement, Mike shared his love of jazz as a DJ and radio host at 90.9FM WDCB in Glen Ellyn, broadcasting his musical knowledge as well as personal anecdotes, including special shows dedicated to the births of his grandchildren.

His family and friends will remember his giving spirit, goofy sense of humor, endless talent, and devotion to his faith, family, friends, and career. He will be dearly missed.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Christine; his children, Andrew Michael (Kelly) Dohan of North Aurora, IL, and Ellen Dohan (David) Pattee of Wheaton, IL; and his grandchildren: Nora, Oliver, Emmett, Aubrey, and Finley.
