The Arts Section 07/15/18
On this edition of The Arts Section, host Gary Zidek gets an up-close look at artist Lewis Achenbach's latest Jazz Occurrence session. The Wheaton-based artist has been live painting at jazz performances for the past five years, his latest project was commissioned by a new hotel in the Hyde Park neighborhood. Gary revisits his conversation with filmmaker Eugene Jarecki about his new documentary, THE KING. The Dueling Critics, Kelly Kleiman and Jonathan Abarbanel, stop by to review Sideshow Theatre's new play TILIKUM. Gary reviews the new documentary WESTWOOD: PUNK ICON ACTIVIST. The film looks back at the life and career of fashion designer Vivienne Westwood. And later in the program, Gary talks to Chicago Jazz Philharmonic music director Orbert Davis about a special tribute to Nelson Mandela. All that, plus the weekly Arts Section calendar.
