Jazz Night in America's Christian McBride wins JJA Award
Congrats to Christian McBride, host of Jazz Night In America, produced by public radio station WBGO, on winning the Jazz Journalists Association's Marian McPartland-Willis Conover Award for Broadcasting in the year 2014!
"Wow! Dig that!" said McBride via Twitter when he heard the news, en route to perform at the Toronto Jazz Festival. Katie Simon, WBGO's senior producer for Jazz Night In America, received the award on his behalf at New York's Blue Note jazz club.
McBride is the founding host of Jazz Night In America, a multimedia collaboration between WBGO, NPRMusic and Jazz At Lincoln Center which was launched in October of 2014.
The series consists of a weekly radio show, heard on more than a hundred NPR affiliate stations nationwide (including WDCB!), weekly video concert webcasts, and interactive online content that showcases the best live jazz performances from across the nation.
Congratulations to Christian, Katie and WBGO on this well-deserved honor!
And a big thanks to WBGO for preparing this release (edited by WDCB).
