2019 WDCB Summer Concert Series at the Lakeside Pavilion

Thursday, July 25:
Angel Melendez & his 911 Mambo Orchestra (the full 20-piece band)

The 911 Mambo Orchestra is a Grammy-nominated 20-piece Palladium-style Mambo band, complete with vocalists and multiple rows of brass. They play an array of Latin music, from the modern tropical sounds of today to the traditional hard-hitting Mambo sound of the 1950s, including the music of Tito Puente, Perez Prado and Tito Rodriguez.

Thursday, August 1:
“Chicago Plays the Stones” featuring Ronnie Baker Brooks & Billy Branch, with John Primer, Jimmy Burns and Omar Coleman

“Chicago Plays the Stones” is a project that celebrates the deep relationship between world’s biggest rock band and the electric blues of Chicago. It’s an all-star band of true Chicago blues heavyweights playing the hit songs of the Rolling Stones with a classic Chicago blues groove inspired by the gritty sounds created by Muddy Waters & Howlin’ Wolf during the heyday of Chess Records.

Thursday, August 8:
The Joey DeFrancesco Trio, plus special guest Bobby Broom

The reigning master of the “B-3” sound, organist Joey DeFrancesco helped launch a jazz organ renaissance in the late ’80s when he first gained prominence as a gifted young musician who’d toured with Miles Davis before his 18th birthday. DeFrancesco has recorded more than 30 albums and is known as one of the most exciting organists in jazz. At this concert, DeFrancesco’s trio will be joined by jazz guitar ace Bobby Broom. It’ll be the first time DeFrancesco and Broom have ever performed together!

All Lakeside Pavilion concerts are free outdoor events and start at 7:30pm.

The concerts are held indoors in The McAninch Arts Center’s Belushi Performance Hall in the event of bad weather.
