The Regulators is a jazzy/funky, groove trio that freely weaves between improvisation and composition. Coming out of the rhythm section of Brian O’Hern’s Model Citizens Big Band, guitarist Mike Allemana and bassist Matt Ferguson (former members of saxophone legend Von Freeman’s quartet) with drummer Gerald Dowd have been grooving audiences with their original music across Chicago area venues since 2008. Their most recent work includes a performance the 2025 Chicago Jazz festival and the release of their first album, coming in the summer of 2026.
