The Arts Section 12/06/15

December 6th, 2015
BEL CANTO composer Jimmy Lopez & Lyric Unlimited director Cayenne Harris

On this edition of The Arts Section, host Gary Zidek talks to the composer of the highly anticipated world premiere opera, BEL CANTO.  Gary also catches up with Joffrey Ballet artistic director Ashley Wheater to talk about the company’s decision to retire the current version of The Nutcracker after 28 years.  WDCB's Brian O'Keefe talks to the author of a new novel that’s set in a fictional Illinois town, that’s similar to a real community in this area. Gary interviews the author of the new book, I LOST IT AT THE VIDEO STORE, which takes a look at the rise and fall of video stores and its effects on a new generation of filmmakers.   And the Dueling Critics preview some of the Chicago-area's best holiday theatrical productions.
