Desert Island Discs!

January 8th, 2024

Now that Winter seems to have finally arrived, we thought it would be fun for our hosts to pick 5 of their personal favorite jazz albums to take along if they were lucky enough to be stranded on a desert island. Miles Davis proved to be the most popular, making appearances on five out of the seven lists here. John Coltrane and Grant Green scored multiple mentions too. We didn’t specify the rules too carefully, so some of these lists may be more strictly jazz-centric than others, but we thought you’d have fun perusing the choices.

And while we’re at it… What 5 jazz albums would YOU pick to accompany your extended stay on a desert island? Send your lists to fridayrequests@WDCB.org and we’ll play tunes from your desert island picks on WDCB this Friday between 9-10am during our weekly “Friday Request Hour.”
