About the artists:
Sarah Marie Young & Stu Mindeman
Sarah Marie Young is an award winning singer, songwriter and musician who sings jazz naturally tinged with soul. One of Chicago’s most versatile vocalists, she’s equally at home in the worlds of folk, blues, pop and r&b as well as jazz. She’s performed at both the Chicago Jazz Festival and the Montreux Jazz Festival. Her most recent recording “Recess”, was released in 2016.
Stu Mindeman is a Chicago-based pianist who spent his formative years in Santiago, Chile and Chicago. He’s well respected in Latin music circles, but when he’s not playing with Sarah, Mindeman can often be found traveling the world as the pianist in Kurt Elling’s band. His latest album, "In Your Waking Eyes: Poems by Langston Hughes", was released in 2014.
A native of Bloomington, Illinois, pianist John Campbell made a big mark on the Chicago jazz scene of the 1970s and ‘80s, eventually becoming an in-demand accompanist for jazz stars including Clark Terry, Mel Torme and Terry Gibbs. Campbell has more than a half-dozen titles in his discography, including his own volume in the prestigious “Live at Maybeck Recital Hall” series of solo piano recordings.
