llinois Department of Public Health Director Says Residents Shouldn't Fear Vaccine

llinois’ public health chief says people can trust whatever COVID-19 vaccine is eventually approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration. Illinois Department of Public Health Director Ngozi Ezike said Illinoisans shouldn’t be worried about the vaccine’s safety after drug company Pfizer announced Monday that its COVID-19 vaccine could be ready for distribution as soon as early next year. The state put out its plan for eventual vaccine distribution last month. Under the plan, healthcare workers and those who work with vulnerable populations would be first in line for the vaccine. Pfizer says its vaccine is 90 percent effective, and will move forward on getting FDA emergency use authorization later this month.
