Ellen Arteaga Tribute

Ellen Arteaga worked at WDCB Public Radio for more than thirty years. Ellen will be missed greatly by her fellow staff members.

Ellen Ruth Arteaga, a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2023, in Joliet, Illinois. Born on June 26, 1964, in Melrose Park, Illinois, Ellen lived a life full of love, laughter, and warmth.

Ellen was a devoted wife to her husband, Hector Arteaga, and together they raised two beautiful children, Ryan (Viviana Jimenez) Arteaga and Laramie (Matthew Dornbos) Arteaga. She had a special bond with her siblings, Tom Hacker and Sandy (Dave) Davis, and always valued the importance of family.

Ellen's professional life was marked by her dedication and hard work as a Radio Traffic Assistant at WDCB Radio. Ellen's commitment to her job and the friendships she formed there will always be remembered by those who had the privilege of working with her.

In her free time, Ellen pursued her interests with passion and enthusiasm. Crafting was a favorite pastime, and she had a knack for creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces that brought joy to those who received them. Ellen also enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it was trying out new recipes together in the kitchen or gardening in her yard, where she created magical hidden fairy gardens that delighted all who discovered them. Ellen's love for animals was evident in her devotion to her two dogs, Honey and Gus, who brought her endless happiness and companionship.

Ellen's warm and loving spirit will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will continue to inspire all who were touched by her life.
